Living In The Tropics

I often think that I would like to be somewhere tropical forthe winter. It is not the snow that I do not like. It is the cold and the wind that I despise. One of the things that I would definitely miss is the wildlife in my back yard. We bought bird food and squirrel food. When there is snow on the ground there are usually about 4 squirrels running up and down the trees and along the fences. They can often be found standing in their bowl of food eating.

The birds are what I enjoy the most. About an hour after we put out the food, cardinals begin showing up to eat. It is especially striking when it is snowing to have several red birds against the white snow. The other day there were at least 12 male cardinals in the trees and around the food. There were as many or more female cardinals, but they are not as easy to see.

Gastric Bypass Diet | Gastric Bypass Operation

Tip 2 for Weight Loss Success

I have tried eating every 3 to 4 hours and I have also used the method of not eating until I feel hungry. For me, I feel like I have better success if I do not eat until I actually feel that I am hungry. I have had gastric bypass surgery, so for me as long as I do not stuff myself, I will be hungry every 3 to 4 hours, but the mental part of eating is different when you are eating on a time schedule as opposed to eating when your body signals it is ready for food.

It is easier to have food on hand and eat when my stomach signals it is ready to be fed. I am also of the opinion that if you make any foods that you like off limits you are asking for trouble and setting yourself up for failure. There is nothing wrong with an occasional indulgence. It is when these indulgences occur daily that there is a problem.

Dansko Shoes | Dansko Clogs | Dansko Boots
Losing Weight and Our Thoughts

There is more to losing weight than just eating healthy and exercise. I truly believe that what goes on on your head has a lot to do with whether you lose weight and whether you will be able to keep it off. Anyone can be taught good nutrition and what exercises to do to be healthy, but what keeps us from following this plan long enough to reach our goal and don't say "lack of time." If it is something we want bad enough, we will always make the time.

You have to change the relationship you have with food. If you eat only when you are hungry and don't use food as a coping mechanism, you will be well on your way to losing enough weight to be healthy. For most people, weight alone is rarely the problem. There is something going on in our lives that causes us to eat when we are not hungry or to eat long past the point of being full. Getting to the root of why we eat when we are not hungry should be part of every heatlhy weight loss plan.

Ryka Water Aerobic Shoes
